With new leadership and a new focus on sustainability, Santee Cooper is recommitting to our mission – to improve the quality of lives for all South Carolinians – by increasing our value to customers and the state of South Carolina. Accountability means public reporting of our efforts on key initiatives, which we will do here. You can also view our monthly reports to the Office of Regulatory Staff on our ORS Reporting Page.
Santee Cooper is transforming our generation mix, with plans to add up to 1,500 MWs of solar, up to 200 MWs of battery storage, and conservation. These changes will provide customers a more flexible, sustainable power supply that is also cheaper. This new power supply will keep rates low for years to come.
As a self-funded, state-owned utility, Santee Cooper must preserve our financial health in order to capably and reliably serve our customers throughout South Carolina. We will do so while also meeting the rate freeze and refund terms of the Cook settlement, maintaining low prices, and reducing long-term debt over time.
Santee Cooper must be accountable to our customers and to South Carolina. That starts with a safe and strong workforce, and performance that is reliable and sustainable. We are doubling down on customer service and increasing transparency in our operations and will report progress here.
Santee Cooper has facilities across the state, and our employees live in 35 different counties. From unique economic development programs that help recruit and retain industries and good jobs, to extensive community involvement, Santee Cooper makes a positive impact in our communities. That will not change.
