Inaugural Biggin Swamp Bluegrass Festival at Old Santee Canal Park on October 10

MONCKS CORNER, S.C. — The "high lonesome sound" of bluegrass music comes to Old Santee Canal Park for the inaugural Biggin Swamp Bluegrass Festival on Saturday, Oct. 10. Gates for this family event open at noon with the music starting up at 1 p.m.

During the festival, musicians are invited to bring their acoustic instruments for a "pickin' circle," and paddlers are encouraged to take advantage of free canoe rentals. The event will also feature free tours of the Stony Landing House and a jump castle for the kids. Berkeley Electric Cooperative's Relay for Life team will be selling food and beverages for charity.

In addition to the "pickin' circle," the festival's musical lineup includes:

• 1-1:50 p.m. - The Bluestone Ramblers
• 2-2:50 p.m. - Blue Plantation Band
• 3-3:50 p.m. - YeeHaw Junction
• 4-5:30 p.m. - Flatt City

The Biggin Swamp Bluegrass Festival is a non-alcohol event, and guests are asked to leave their coolers, pets, and golf carts at home. Admission is $5 for adults and free for children 6 and under. Tickets will not be sold in advance. For details, call Old Santee Canal Park at 843-899-5200.
