Santee Cooper offers free Solar Energy 101 Workshops

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Santee Cooper is offering two free Solar Energy 101 Workshops to help customers understand the solar energy technologies available to them. The workshops take place on Friday, Oct. 7 from noon-1 p.m. at the North Myrtle Beach Library (910 1st Ave S., North Myrtle Beach) and on Saturday, Oct. 8 from 10:30 a.m.-11:30am at the Carolina Forest Recreation Center (2254 Carolina Forest Blvd., Myrtle Beach).

The workshops complement Santee Cooper’s recently launched Solar Home and Solar Business programs, which offer residential and commercial customers rebates and the opportunity to take advantage of the many benefits rooftop solar energy systems provide.

Santee Cooper’s outreach coordinator for rooftop solar programs will guide participants through the current state of the solar industry, how solar energy systems work and are installed, innovations in technology and current financial incentives offered at the federal and state levels. He also will discuss Santee Cooper’s rooftop solar programs, including the application process, rebates, energy credits and residential low-interest loans.

Seating is limited and RSVPs are required. Those interested should RSVP to Nick Safay at (843) 274-1170 or Refreshments will be provided.
