If you've recently been by our corporate headquarters in Moncks Corner, chances are you've seen some of Santa's helpers getting things ready for Celebrate The Season, which returns for its fifth year to once again bring families and the community together this holiday season. Thousands of enchanting lights, and weekend Holiday Fairs are just some of the delights awaiting visitors beginning Friday, Nov. 27.

Celebrate The Season features a nightly Holiday Lights Driving Tour with spectacular light displays along a quaint route that begins at our headquarters and winds through the adjacent Old Santee Canal Park. The month-long event is fully powered with Green Power from Santee Cooper and exclusively uses energy-efficient LEDs. Admission is $5 per vehicle, and visitors can make repeat trips through the display route on the night they attend for the price of one nightly admission.

Celebrate The Season's Holiday Lights Driving Tour is open daily except for Dec. 24 and 25, and it winds down on Wednesday, Dec. 30. Hours are 6-9:30 p.m., seven days a week.

Old Santee Canal Park hosts Holiday Fairs each Friday through Sunday, from Nov. 27 to Dec. 20, offering families and friends a place to gather for spirited fellowship. Children can enjoy free visits with Santa Claus, marshmallow roasting, loads of live entertainment and other fun attractions. The Stony Landing House will be adorned in historical decorations, and the forecasts will be calling for snow. Entry is included with the $5 admission to the Holiday Lights Driving Tour.

Presented by Berkeley Electric Cooperative and organized by Santee Cooper and Old Santee Canal Park, Celebrate The Season remains a community gift that spreads good cheer throughout the year. Continuing in its charitable tradition, all proceeds again will be donated to charities serving Berkeley County. Since 2011, Celebrate The Season has donated more than $409,000 to local organizations like Coastal Community Foundation's Giving Back to Berkeley Fund.

Entrance to Celebrate The Season is at Santee Cooper's main entrance on Rembert C. Dennis Boulevard/U.S. Highway 52 Bypass in Moncks Corner. The address is 1 Riverwood Drive. Visit www.celebratetheseason.org for more information.

Also returning this year is the charitable Tinsel Trot 2-mile Fun Run & Walk, which takes place from 5:30-8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 21, and gives participants a "sneaker preview" of the colorful light displays a week before Celebrate The Season opens to the public. Online registration is available through noon on Saturday, Nov. 21, at raceroster.com. Race day registration will be held at Old Santee Canal Park between 4-5:15 p.m. Additional information can be found at www.celebratetheseason.org/tinseltrot.

If you've already registered, race packet pickup will be available Nov. 18-20 at Old Santee Canal Park's Interpretive Center from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m., and race day packet pickup will begin at 4 p.m. Additional shirts will be available on race day for $5 (pending size and availability).

We're looking forward to seeing you at this year's Celebrate The Season and Tinsel Trot. Visit the website for more information, or call Old Santee Canal Park at 843-899-5200.
