Santee Cooper announces office closures, adds mobile app and online payment portal
MONCKS CORNER, S.C. – Santee Cooper will be closing three of its retail offices this year, saving customers approximately $1 million annually. Santee Cooper is also adding an enhanced online payment portal, a new mobile app and bank partnerships that will provide more than seventeen additional payment locations to make doing business with us easier than ever.
The Garden City, North Myrtle Beach and Conway Customer Service Retail Offices are set to close this year as part of the effort to make cost effective decisions for customers and to offer more options where most customers do business – online. The Garden City office will close April 27, North Myrtle Beach will close June 1 and Conway is scheduled to close June 29.
“We work to continuously improve the way we do business in order to provide reliable and affordable service for our customers,” said Mike Poston, vice president of Santee Cooper’s retail operations. “We believe this cost-saving effort is the right decision for our customers and the bank partnerships will provide more options and a more cost-effective way to meet our customers’ needs.”
Once the offices close, customers will be able to pay their Santee Cooper bills in person at several banks in their respective areas, as well as at any Western Union™ agent. These banks include all Anderson Brothers Banks in Horry and Georgetown County, all Coastal Carolina National Banks in Horry County, two Palmetto Heritage Banks in Pawleys Island and Murrells Inlet, and one Conway National Bank located in Pawleys Island.
The decline in visits to retail offices, the increase in online traffic and technological advances prompted the creation of the mobile app and enhanced online payment portal. These new tools will provide customers with easy access to all their information, anytime they need it. Using these new services, customers will be able to start service, manage their accounts, pay their bills, receive alerts and engage in a more personalized online experience.
“We will continue working every day to make sure our customers have a good experience when they do business with us,” said Bryan Lewis, manager of retail services. “Our goal is to make things as easy and convenient as possible.”
Santee Cooper’s Myrtle Beach and Moncks Corner Customer Service Retail Offices will remain open. The Myrtle Beach location serves the largest number of residents and sees the most walk-in customers per month. The Moncks Corner location is located at the Corporate Headquarters and will continue to meet the needs of Berkeley County customers.
Santee Cooper’s Customer Care Center will remain available for phone calls and live online chats during regular business hours to assist with any customer service need.
