Santee Cooper offers free<br/> Solar Energy Workshop and Tour

Myrtle Beach, S.C. – Santee Cooper is offering a free Solar Energy Workshop and a tour of a solar rooftop installation from 10:30 a.m. until noon on Saturday, April 21, in the Carolina Forest area of Myrtle Beach. Seating is limited and RSVPs are required.

At the workshop and tour, participants will learn about solar energy and other energy efficiency technologies available to them. The event includes a brief overview of how solar energy systems work, how they are installed, and current state and federal tax incentives. Details will also be provided on the Santee Cooper Rooftop Solar program, which provides rebates for eligible solar electric systems.

After the overview, attendees will tour a Santee Cooper customer’s home that features a solar energy system and other energy efficiency technologies including geothermal heating and cooling, and insulated concrete forms.

The workshop and tour complements Santee Cooper’s Rooftop Solar program, which offers residential and commercial customers rebates for installing solar energy systems, and its Solar Share community solar program, which gives customers the opportunity to take advantage of the many benefits of rooftop solar energy systems without purchasing, owning and maintaining the system. Santee Cooper representatives also will talk about the Smart Energy New Homes program that provides incentives to home builders to build energy efficient homes.

Those interested should RSVP to Nick Safay at 239-919-6529 or nsafay@nexant.com. The address of the event location will be provided to those who RSVP. More information on Santee Cooper’s solar programs can be found at www.santeecoopersolar.com. Refreshments will be provided.
