Old Santee Canal Park Opens Grounds and Trails Friday

MONCKS CORNER, S.C. – Old Santee Canal Park will open its grounds and trails to the public at 9 a.m. on Friday, May 1.

All buildings, bathrooms, picnic shelters and canoe rentals will remain closed. No groups, meetings or gatherings of more than three people are allowed. Park gates will be open, allowing visitors to drive in. During this stage in the reopening process, admission fees have been waived.

Visitors to the park must continue to follow social distancing guidelines set forth by the CDC and Governor McMaster. Visitors not complying or adhering to these guidelines may be asked to leave.

With 195 acres of property, including 4 miles of trails, Old Santee Canal Park is a haven for nature lovers, bird watchers and outdoor enthusiasts. The trails meander through a picturesque cypress swamp. The park is teeming with wildlife including alligators, turtles, fox, birds and more.
