Recognizing National Customer Service Week

Originally established in 1984, and officially proclaimed by Congress in 1992, National Customer Service Week is an opportunity for us to recognize the excellent work our employees do to keep our customers satisfied. After all, our purpose is to serve you, and we keep that in mind with everything we do, from generating power to maintaining the lakes for you to enjoy.

Our mission is to be the state’s leading resource for improving the quality of life for the people of South Carolina. Providing power and water is only one way we do this. We also support economic development across the state, work with schools to enhance education opportunities, and protect the environment. We’ve even taking more steps lately to hold rates steady and increase our value to you, the customer.

But let’s not forget that this week is also a time for us to recognize the workers on the frontline – our customer service representatives. We greatly appreciate their dedication to ensuring that you receive the level of care you’ve come to expect. And they’re good at it, too. According to a survey conducted by MarketSearch, our customer satisfaction scores are higher than the national average and improving.

“The fact that I can change their day with my actions and level of customer service also brightens my day,” said Carmen Martin, Customer Service Representative III. “Every new call or email is a chance to show our customers how much we appreciate them in every way.”

Our team is committed to helping any customers who need advice on how to use their energy efficiently to maximize their utilities. “We also provide information to help customers resolve energy use concerns,” said Michael Goff, Residential Energy Advisor III. “I believe that we can best serve our customers and ourselves when we are innovative and proactive.”

Tracy Vreeland joined Santee Cooper in May 2018, coming from a Myrtle Beach advertising agency. Prior to that she worked at United Way of Horry County. A University South Carolina graduate, she majored in electronic journalism and has worked in television news gathering at several stations. A New Jersey native, Tracy enjoys hanging with her son, Oliver, and daugther, Vienna, running, volunteering, going to the beach and watching the New York Giants and USC Gamecocks.
