In 2025, Santee Cooper introduced two new programs to help customers save energy and lower expenses. Beyond delivering customer value, these programs also support Santee Cooper’s efforts to provide affordable, reliable and sustainable energy solutions.
Power Partners
In April 2025, Santee Cooper launched a new program to help reduce barriers to energy efficiency for customers with high energy burdens. Power Partners offers workshops, energy assessments, and free home energy-efficiency improvements for eligible residential customers. A qualified technician identifies opportunities to improve energy efficiency, including LED lighting, weather stripping and faucet aerators, and provides those measures free to eligible customers. Power Partners also provides energy education to help households adopt long-term energy-saving habits. By making energy efficiency more accessible, the program helps reduce power costs for customers while promoting a sustainable, energy-conscious community.
The program is already making an impact in the local community – Santee Cooper worked with 150 customers in 2025 alone and plans to expand the program in the future.
“Santee Cooper is committed to ensuring all of our customers have access to affordable, reliable and sustainable energy,” said Marty Watson, Senior Director of Commercial and Customer Service. “By offering education and free energy-efficiency upgrades to households that may already be struggling to pay monthly bills, we hope to help these customers reduce their energy expenses and improve their overall quality of life.”
By providing improvements such as LED lighting, weather stripping and insulation, the initiative helps customers reduce electricity usage, lower monthly bills and improve comfort.
“The young man who helped me was incredibly kind,” noted one customer. “As someone on oxygen and a limited income, it truly means a lot to see a company that genuinely cares about its customers.”
Community outreach efforts will continue to inform residents, enroll eligible households and schedule installations in 2026 and beyond.
Marketplace
Santee Cooper also launched Marketplace – an online one-stop, energy-saving shop – to offer residential customers easy access to affordable, energy-efficient products, most at discounted prices or with automatic rebates.
Santee Cooper residential customers can save energy, and potentially money on their power bills, when they purchase and use items hand-picked by energy-efficiency experts. Plus, customers can shop on Marketplace from the comfort of their own homes.
Some of the products on Marketplace include smart thermostats, water heater timers, nightlights, electric vehicle charges and ENERGY STAR ® air purifiers and dehumidifiers.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for us to arm customers with better tools to manage their energy use,” said Watson. “Marketplace features products that will help our customers use less electricity during peak hours and save money on their monthly bills.”
