Giving Back

Santee Cooper has long maintained a tradition of giving back to the communities and people of South Carolina. Santee Cooper teammates are highly involved in area United Ways. Our team exemplifies Santee Cooper's mission by volunteering time, talents and money to nonprofits throughout the state. Whether it is through company-sponsored events or activities during weekends, we take pride in being a part of our community.

Over the past 10+ years, team members have contributed more than $5 million of their own money, just to United Ways alone, and completed hundreds of service projects through Day of Caring and Day of Action. Many also serve on United Way boards.

Other events we're involved with are community and beach cleanups, blood drives, teacher appreciation events, holiday gift and supply drives, career fairs, March of Dimes and American Heart Association events and more. We're also proud to be a partner for local hurricane expos to help customers prepare for hurricane season.

15 years powering RBC Heritage

RBC Heritage Presented by Boeing

For nearly two decades, Santee Cooper has teamed up with Palmetto Electric Cooperative and RBC Heritage Presented by Boeing to power the state’s largest sporting event with 100% homegrown, environmentally sound Green Power. Just like plaid, Green Power never goes out of style. We appreciate this partnership and the dedication the Heritage and Palmetto Electric have to the environment.

Family on their way to see Holiday lights

Celebrate The Season

Since 2011, Santee Cooper team members have organized and hosted Celebrate The Season, a charitable holiday event benefitting community members through local nonprofits. This family-friendly holiday festival has helped raise more than $1.3 million.

The festival opens with the Tinsel Trot Holiday Fun Run, where participants can run or walk the mile-long Holiday Lights Driving Tour, which features thousands of beautiful LED lights, powered by Green Power. On select weekends, the festival hosts Holiday in the Park with festive food, local entertainment and crafts, and a visit from Santa, which is included with admission to the Holiday Lights Driving Tour.

None of this would be possible without our sponsors, including our presenting sponsor Berkeley Electric Cooperative. If you would like to  be a Celebrate The Season sponsor, please contact Park Director Brad Sale at 843-899-5200.

Cross Classic

On June 12, Cross Generating Station’s long-standing golf tournament, the Cross Classic, welcomed around 200 golfers for a great day on the links.

The event raised a record-breaking $50,000 for the American Cancer Society. This success was made possible by the dedicated organizing committee and the 18 employee volunteers who kept everything running smoothly.

Cross Station Manager Rick Shumpert captured the excitement perfectly: "This was the first year of running the tournament like this, but we intend to take this momentum forward and have big plans for upcoming years."
