Powering Sustainability Through Collaboration
2025 Sustainability Report

Santee Cooper collaborates extensively with environmental groups and communities to advance sustainability and support future generation growth. Through its Integrated Resource Plan (IRP) process, the utility engages stakeholders to balance reliability, affordability and environmental stewardship amid rising demand from economic development.

Central to this is the Stakeholder Working Group, comprising environmental organizations like the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy, Sierra Club, Southern Environmental Law Center, Coastal Conservation League, Conservation Voters of South Carolina, and Audubon Society, alongside community representatives from the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources and Department of Environmental Services.

Facilitated by third-party consultant Vanry Associates, the group meets every two to three months. There have been nine sessions from April 2024 to October 2025, focused on matters such as load forecasting, renewable integration, coal retirements, Greenhouse Gas (GHG) regulations, transmission studies and market potential studies.

Feedback from participants in these sessions helps shape IRP updates.

This outreach helps with sustainable growth, powering South Carolina's economy responsibly through transparent, inclusive planning.
