Industrial Customers

On May 1, 2026, the Santee Cooper Board of Directors received proposed base rate changes for 2027 and 2028 and approved a public comment process, giving customers several months to review the proposed changes and provide input.

Proposed Industrial Rate Changes

The proposed 2027 adjustment for industrial customers is a 2.6% increase, and the proposed 2028 adjustment is a 2.1% increase. Santee Cooper held several customer focus groups earlier this year, and the proposed rates incorporate customer feedback from those sessions.

Revised industrial customer rates also include a High Impact Load Rate, which builds on and transitions the 2025 Experimental Large Load Rate Santee Cooper into a standard offering. This rate will collect payment up front from high impact load customers, such as data centers, for upgrades to our system necessary to power these loads. Front-loading these payments means the entities causing the expenses will also be the entities paying for the expenses, which protects our other customers from the cost impacts caused by large loads.

How You Can Get Involved

Santee Cooper’s residential, commercial, industrial, municipal light and power, and certain wholesale customers have the right to review the proposed rate schedules; appear and speak in person concerning the proposed rates at public meetings or the specified meetings of the Board of Directors; and submit written comments.
